Civilians Flee After Fierce Fighting in Mogadishu
Written by Abbas Gassem
Friday, 25 April 2008

Civilians fleeing from fierce combat in the Somalia Capital Mogadishu have reached some parts of lower Shabelle region in Southern Somalia in order to survive and live in a peaceful atmosphere.

The majority of the exoduses were mothers and their children walking along the road that links Mogadishu to the lower Shabelle region.

The expression on their faces was unpleasant one covered with fatigue and dry lips of signs of thirsty.

These people fled from the residences in the northern part of the Somali capital Mogadishu where two days confrontation was going and they could not dare to remain in their houses due the heavy barrages in their environment.

“I am unaware where some of my relatives, whom we were living together are now, and my last time to see them was when we came out from the gate” said Isho Ahmed a mother of 8 who was speaking to somaliweyn radio.

The frequent direct bombardments at where people are densely populated in the Somali capital Mogadishu always remain the talk of the day. Local Human rights organizations in the capital Mogadishu have immensely condemned these in human action in the capital.

It is not the first time for Human rights group to censure the constant barrages in the city specially where people are densely populated, and yet there seems to be no change at all.

So far there are no tangible solutions reached regarding about the day-to-day combats between the Ethiopian troops and their opponents in the capital Mogadishu.
